SkinPen

 FAQs

  • SkinPen is a microneedling device used to improve the appearance of the skin by creating micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This promotes collagen and elastin production, which can improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and scars, and enhance overall skin tone.

  • Microneedling uses tiny, sterilized needles to create controlled punctures in the skin's surface. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s wound-healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production, which helps improve skin texture, firmness, and smoothness.

  • Most patients experience only mild discomfort during the procedure. A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin beforehand to minimize any pain or discomfort. The sensation is often described as a light pricking or scratching, but it is generally tolerable. The treatment lasts 30-60 minutes, with 20 minutes dedicated to numbing.

  • The number of treatments needed depends on the skin concern being addressed. Generally, 3 to 6 sessions spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. Maintenance treatments may be suggested depending on your skin goals.

  • Immediately after the treatment, your skin may appear red and feel slightly irritated, similar to a mild sunburn. This redness typically subsides within 24-48 hours. You may also experience slight swelling and dryness, but these side effects are temporary. Full healing takes about 3-7 days, depending on the depth of the treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours after treatment.

Don’t use makeup for 24 hours.

Apply gentle skincare products, ideally those with no fragrances or active ingredients.

Stay hydrated and use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin calm.

Avoid harsh treatments like chemical peels or laser treatments for several weeks.
